3 Tips for Mastering your Child's Bedtime

Preschools near me

Bedtime can often be a struggle when you have a toddler or preschool age child at home. Read below for 3 tips on creating a successful bedtime routine for you and your child.

-Be consistent with a bedtime. Preschool age children should be getting 10-13 hours a night. Keep the same bedtime 7 nights a week to avoid negotiations.

-Watch the words you use about bedtime. Using ‘going to bed’ as a threat for negative behavior can give it a bad reputation. Consider a re-branding of bedtime, calling it ‘family time’ or ‘snuggle time’ may help ease stress over the event.

-Turn off electronics and other devices with screens. Having a screen ‘lights out’ time at least two hours before bed will help your child begin to wind down.

There are many positive benefits for establishing a bedtime routine. See the article below for one of them:

Thank you for your awesome service to the child. During early and middle childhood, the brain forms and refines a complex network of connections in the brain through synaptogenesis, pruning, and myelination. The process of forming connections is biologically driven, but experiences also promote synapse formation.
